A/C not blowing as hard under acceleration

Hi guys,

VE SS here.

Now that it is summer, I've noticed something happening with my A/C. Under acceleration it won't blow as hard but it is still cool. When I pull up at the lights for example, it will return to higher blowing power. It is an Aerpro aftermarket AC. I had a new compressor and condenser put in not that long ago.

Is this something that is supposed to happen to save power or something?

Well the fan does the blowing. If fan speed drops when the car is accelerating, there might be something going on.

Measuring voltage to the fan under acceleration would be something to start to check out.

Maybe the fan is flogged?

Maybe the alternator is flogged and not able to power the fan as well?

The compressor will cut out under WOT (or close to it) to allow full power to be directed through the drivetrain (it assumes you are accelerating that hard because of a pressing need to..)

It even mentions it in the manual somewhere.

I thought all the VEs had air con as standard?

All pollution mode does is close the flap for outside air and change it to inside recirculated air. That will happen when the car stops at lights etc.

tml678 is on the money,comp. will cut the a/c under (over certain rpm.) load.

Yes thats right, but it does give the sensation like the aircon doesnt blow as hard when the flap opens when you accelerate.
