Welcome! How much work are we talking on it? Sometimes if it's too good to be true, it usually is :(

A re-build or a new engine :(

my partner & his teacher looked at it today, and said you couldn't tell the engine was ####ed, just by looking over it (I did check the dip stick and used a torch to look in the bit where you pour the oil & it looked clean - couldn't see any build up)

They were both surprised that the car was running so well.

Ill upload a pic later of the engine sludge :/

To make me feel better they did keep reassuring me that you couldn't tell with out opening the engine...

Yup sounds like almost every second hand Commodore in Australia.

Kind of peeved too at the guy who sold it to me - he was the 2nd owner... first owner it was fleet car to a local company (maintained well with regular service history), this guy I got it was 2nd owner, I rekon in his mid 60's at least, so thought he would of maintained it to some extent! :(

Some sludge in a motor doesnt mean it needs a new engine or rebuild...

What parts actually ####ed? bearings? rods? rings? pistons? valves? heads? timing chain?

If it's not misfiring & still runs well you have nothing to worry about. Clean her up and be on your way.

Cheers
Mat

It needs new chains (quoted $1400 just for the parts to do the chain - less abit for trade discount)
Then they said we clean it, will have to do the sump and stuff to reach the pick up? Because it will catch all the crap.

Haha Im pretty sure, we are on the RAC's black list too ;)
The amount of times we have had our cars towed in insane!

They had major difficultly getting the car on the damn truck! because it was "too low".... standard vz (no body kit) with ssl's... messed up my exhaust tip too  not impressed!

The first time I got mine towed after I turbo'd it, the guy had the straps running under my intercooler, I was like noooooooo, put them around it or you'll screw it up! Lucky it didn't scrape anything haha
