You simply don't understand the logistics of what it takes to make a website like this possible.

If you read what I wrote, I told you that I have owned and run a website with tens of thousands of members.

You said I don't know the logistics, not that you do. Look, I do read.

Fair cop but the chances of you actually understanding the sheer logistics of starting a website primarily based on a forum and moderating users for 20 years is zero.

You need to consider between direct and indirect experience.

I've not flown to the moon, but I have an understanding of the sheer logistics required to do it.

IT business basics surely: Server options, software choices, advertising options, specific coding, user management, usability, functionality, traffic requirements.

Am I an expert, no.
Do I have a non-zero understanding, yes.
Did I provide counterpoints to your ideas, yes.
Have you just chased down a rabbit hole poking holes at me instead of my argument, yes. You do truly get how to use forums.

I too am the Admin elsewhere. Have been for a decade.

This layout is easy to follow. Simple to use. It’s spot on.

Sponsors need pride of place on the forum layout. Easy to find new posts.

The forum order is spot on. Like the milk at the far corner of the supermarket. You put your staple items further back to get people into the smaller bits on the way.

I too think we are seeing more posts from new members looking to solve issues not solved by professionals, or to learn more before they do take it to someone, than I can recall on Holden and Commodore forums.

These used to be the domain of enthusiasts and that is changing.

Other points about FB and other platforms are spot on. This forum is unique and super easy to use.

It's fantastic but I still think people underestimate that its a non profit and eventually, the will to go on will die with the owner unless there is money to be made from it. I'm just offering advice,

Please excuse my ignorance, but who is the owner ?
Darren ? Tatiana ? Mort ? or is it hiding in plain sight at the top/bottom of the page ?
