Nothing is bent, uneven etc. Thinking of pulling heads and inlet at some point just to clean everything up and prevent issues.

Yes BCM, pcm and key were linked by tech 2 and correctly, car wouldn't start or run otherwise. Immobilizer would be doing its job. As is was when my ignition ring wore out. Problem isn't security based. It's either air, spark or fuel especially considering it's only 1 cylinder. Going to investigate link to injector with tech 2 when I get the chance.

I came across the item below in a web site on VF Commodore faults. Obviously you don't have an LS engine, but perhaps the broken valve spring symptoms described there might be similar to what you are experiencing.

Just a side note. When you did the timing, did you put the car into diagnostic mode when setting the base timing?
