VR V6 5-speed
my vr 5 speed sort of shudders, not straight away but when you first start to get going (not flogging) you can just feel a vibration,it seems to go throughout the car.
you can also hear it in the engine note.
but once you get into the other gears such as 3rd,4th and 5th its fine.
any ideas?

All Commodores shudder or vibrate in first and second gear when floored. Many have tried to fix the problem but few have succeeded to totally eliminate the shudder. As stockvp says you also may have a stuffed engine mount that is making the shudder worse. Good Luck.

get under the car(you can see with the bonnet up as well) have a look where the engine mounts on to the body and check how bad the rubber is the drivers side is easy but you got to take of the air compressor on the passenger side just use a hydraulic jack with a bit of wood on it and raise the engine on the sump to support undo mount to crossmember nuts raise engine just enough for the bolts to come out and undo mounts to engine nuts and remove engine mounts fitting is is reverse but you may need a jimmy bar to get in place if so you gonna need two people otherwise you can do it by yourself

Does your clutch pedal shudder?

Does the shudder/vibration come from the back?

could be:

Engine mounts,
Gearbox mounts / cross member rubbers
split tail shaft centre bearing (do manuals have the split tail shaft?)
Damaged Pressure plate/ worn plate - results usually in pedal shudder, or slipage.
