you can spend shiit all on a skyline / vl turbo / silvia and hit the 11 - 12's

You can go on with your 'half of a quarter of a length of string'...
I want to hear what you would spend sh*t all on if you had a skyline to get your 11 sec pass.

You could probably get a very low 12 out of an R32 GTR by cranking up the boost, ripping a whole lot of weight out, throwing in a good exhaust and pumping it FULL of nitrous oxide.

But running low 12s RELIABLY is a whole 'nother story :p

A Toyota?
At least you weren't up against a lightly worked JSX80 - you would have had absolutely no chance whatsoever. A bit more boost, extra fuel, 'zaust and a bit of weight reduction and we're talking 12 second passes with barely any effort.
Drag times aren't everything IMO, driveabillity and comfort are much greater on my list of things I'd look for in a car.

the r32 GTR is still classified as one of the quickest GTR's made, the orriginal godzilla, forget about the new GTR, these and the same 2.6ltr twin turbo motor in the heavier r33 and r34 GTR's runs in the 12's, give it as some people on here have said a better exhaust, wind the boost up a bit or bolt a large single turbo on and they'll easily run 12's all day and if lucky into the high 11's all day, one very strong motor along with the twin turbo supra motor, 500+ hp with just bolt ons and will do it all day, same as vl turbos, exhaust and wind the boost up a bit, easy 13's and some into the 12's with just bolt ons, that same nissan family of strong motors.

the ve v8 is a powerful motor as everyone knows, a few bolt ons and a good tune and you will give them a run for your money as stated in other posts, and as stated the GTR has weight and AWD on its side, plus 2 hair dryers.

its all a learning curve, who knows a couple of bolt ons, good tune, hit the track again and you might come up trumps, or alot closer anyway.

Good luck.

^^^ Yeah... lefts spend a good 15G + just to beat a silvia... that definately sounds like money well spent... :p

People have to deal with the fact commodores are not build for speed... they are not build to be race cars... they are build for getting the wife and kids from A to B, and throwing a skid... and there is nothing wrong with that... lol

smartest words ive heard all thread,

your car is a family bus mate, in standard form, you were not going to win this race. get yourself a mail order tune, sort urself out and exhaust and intake the gap will lessen, the list goes on. facts straight, the gtr is a beauitful thing. modern isnt always better ;)
