Gday everyone,

First post on here, just after some advice on buying a VZ Sv6. Had a look at one today and runs like a dream and couldn't spot anything bad apart from fade and some cosmetic stuff.

The engine has been swapped for a high output alloytech from the WK statos (200,xxxKms) and the guy has no paper work at all for the car.

It's sketchy but what do you guys think? Are these a deal breaker for you personally?

An engine swap with no paperwork is definitely a deal-breaker for me, and if you feel that it's sketchy, then it probably is... Rectifying the faded paintwork can get expensive, so take that into account as well...

I would also recommend a VY S Pack over a VZ SV6 as it came with the more reliable 4spd auto, as opposed to the 5spd autos in the VZ high output motors, though this does not apply to manual VY/VZ's... In addition, the Alloytec V6 engines were notorious for timing chain issues (something the older Ecotecs don't suffer from as much), so make sure it has been done (with paperwork), or haggle on the price if hasn't been done or needs doing...

Don’t think it can be legally registered if the engine swap was not documented, but correct me if I’m wrong. The engine number must match up to what VicRoads or whatever organisation has in the data base.
