If you been spraying acrylic then DO NOT sand or buff for at least three weeks...
Need advice, head over to VG autopaints...

Just reviving old paint and need to know how much cutting compound I need. Since no one seems to be able to answer I will get one 500g can and see if it is enough.

Thanks EYY I will check SCA or other places if need be a get some Meguiars cutting compond. My father in law who was in the industry a few years back mentioned that gear as well. Sounds like it's the go.

My procedure for acrylic no clear coat (your ute is white isnt it?)
If you have orange peel sand down with 2000 grit sand paper keep it real wet and a tiny bit of washing up detergent in the water...
once its all evenly dull. hit it with Meguiars polishing compound (its a liquid ) and buffing wheel...then give it a coat of Auto Glym extra gloss protection(hand applied and left on to dry for 1/2 an hr)..then a coat or 2 of wax, I use Meguiars cabana wax...Id also clay bar the rest of the car before I did this, as this will remove any crap in the paint work and make it easier to blend in the new paint.....

Definitely going the Meguier's gear. I assume SCA will sell it. Gonna see if Burson's sell it too as they are right next door to work.

yeah SCA have Meguier products not sure about Bursons been a few years since I been in one of their stores.....

Also be careful with the Ultimate Polish on fresh paint, give it at least 4 weeks before you use it.....
