thanks but if its leaked/lost gas would that mean somethings busted and the gas will just leak again

im a mechanic's labourer but he cant be bothered looking at it lol

ive checked all my fuses and tried other relays

ive read it could be an o-ring, where are they located

if i start engine, then turn air con on, then run to compressor what am i supposed to be seeing (i figure the compressor spins with belt no matter what)

and theres some gadget between the wipers that might be faulty?

All AC systems seem to loose their gas over time. Don't know why? Our old VS was the same, aircon got less and less. One day I took it to some outfit, they vacuum tested the system and it was fine, re-gassed it and it was 100% after that.

I just bought a one of these http://www.coolkiwi.net.nz/store/p48/DIY_Air_Conditioning_Recharge_Starter_Kit.html I'm going to top up the AC in the missus VX as it's not working as well as it used too either.

I wish that was the problem with mine.

Last summer the coldness got less and less. Took it the local a/c joint and had it regassed with the dye and they said it wasn't holding the pressure well.

Worked okay for a couple of weeks and then back to the way it was.

The a/c joint checked for dye leaks which were showing up at numerous places in the system. End result, system is fubared with a quote of ~$1300 to fix.

Much sad :(

Wtf it could only be a list of 4 or 5 things surely

Could u get a second opinion

Or a heap of parts from a wreckers

Leaks surely come from the orings. Cant be too many places it could leak from?

I am facing the same issue in my new VS SS that i got the other week. Fan won't go at any setting. Relay, Fuses and Resistor are all good. Only option is to get the blower unit out from under the dash. Do a search on here, there was a post about how to do it without removing the dash.

Sounds like it is a pain in the arse but do-able.

One issue is probably in the evaporator given they quoted that much.

VS '95. LPG. 513,000KM
Just towed a one tonne empty tall furniture trailer from kangaroo Island to Mildura, and the aircon packed it in on the first hour. Compressor doesn't seem to be engaging, so guessing it's out of gas. Driving at 2200rpm in 3rd most of the day probably didn't help. Any other likely heat related causes?

Edit :is working again this morning. Does the computer shut down the aircon if the engine bay is too hot?
