Can anyone tell me how much air a stock V6 sucks, (cu.ft/min ?)
as I want to use a non-stock intake/filter and would'nt want to restrict the flow.

Do your math and you should be right. Generally speaking a larger air box, intake and filter will flow higher than stock. ALWAYS a good thing.

i think it is up around 650cfm @ 5000rpm...
very rare for an automotive air filter manufacturer to give you a cfm rating though.....good luck mate

a couple of quick calcs and i get 332 cfm at 5000 rpm for 3.8 litres at 100% volumetric efficiency. it's probably around 300 as it won't get 100% efficiency.

convert engine capacity to cubic feet and multiply by rpm=cfm
3800cc = 0.1341957cubic feet x 5000rpm = 670.978cfm at 100%VE

yeah but being a 4 stroke, it only takes in air every second stroke, so you need to half that and you'll get my figure :)

Thanks all for the info. and the maths lesson.
(I did see some some filters in a shop that had a rating of 600cfm on the box.)

filter fitted

Well I ended up using a "Lynx ram-flow 600" filter and works fine, but:
One post in here mentioned their pod being noisy when cold but ok when the engine warmed up, and I thought that sounded unlikely, well that is exactly what my system does!
Also I didn't expect to notice any difference in driving, but it definitely is crisper and has a bit more "go".
Strange, but not complaining.
