Might be a bit of a stretch, has anyone tried or thought about fitting up a 6sp manual from a late model 6 cylinder commodore into a VK with a std/mild 308??

Looking at the ratios to would make a great addition & good for 470Nm.

1st: 4.17 2nd: 2.19 3rd: 1.49 4th: 1.19 5th: 1.00 6th 0.84 R: 3.67

T5 sourced from the VN-VS SS are now up there price-wise & the T56 is an over kill???? And V8 pedal sets are drug money!

First gear would be impossibly short with anything other than stock diff ratio's (3.08) and a waste with decent torque from a V8. The biggest hurdle to actually fitting it would be a bellhousing, everything else like drive shaft and cross members are easy enough to alter/fabricate.

There are pretty much no conversion kits for the bellhousing. Don't really see how a T56 would be overkill for something with that much torque depending on what you're doing. If I was going to do a trans swap it would be the strongest transmission for the lowest cost, which is the T56 (even if it was going in another car with a different engine). Even though you could get an Aisin for $600 or $700 (compared to like $800 to 1.2k for a T56), the saving of a few hundred dollars would totally be eaten up by the costs of custom adapting it (also, factor in the time you'd spend doing this here), where as T56 conversion kits are kinda somewhat readily available off the shelf for the 5L . Not to mention, the limits of the Aisin aren't really well known because not many people have really played with them, whereas the T56 is well known to take a decent beating and is easy to get parts for, or you could just buy another one.

The other gearbox worth looking at would be the Getrag from the VS2/VT 5L, different to the V6 one and supposed to be a bit stronger.

All of these solutions (including the Aisin) you'll still have to get a pedal box for the hydraulic clutch.

Ford 6cyl t5 with dellow/crs conversion kit..most common/cheaper way to do it & taller gear 1st(iirc)

Dellow were modding 6cyl pedal box to suit v8...smitty will know what difference is.

getrag/t56 will need hydraulic set & electric speedo

There is a bell housing that allows for a cable clutch set up with the T56. Dellow I believe.
