This is my 1996 VS Series II Commodore S.

    Colour: White
    Engine: Stock.
    Exhaust: Stock.
    Brakes: Stock.
Suspension: Stock FE2. Live Axle rear.
    Gearbox: Stock 4 speed automatic.
Wheels: Stock 15 inch Holden Alloys. 4 Goodyear Eagle GA Plus tyres.
Sound System: Only thing in the car not stock really. Clarion CZ101A headunit, 4 Pioneer speakers. For something that cost me $215-150 for the equipment, 65 for a head unit install it does pretty well.
Interior: Stock pretty much. I threw a set of $15 el cheapo K-Mart seat covers on to protect the seats.

Planned mods: In order of likeliness of happening
Upgraded Brakes [thinking putting a VT brake system in, this will be before I even touch anything else as the current brakes are only adequate I believe.]
    Cold Air intake.
Possibly do something to the computer system. Not exactly sure of the technical details yet, I understand it has something to do with a "memcal" [or maybe i'm just spouting gibberish]
Exhaust of some description. Would like something that sounds reasonably deep and still is quiet, while avoiding any obnoxious noise that will likely result in unwanted attention from members of the constabulary, or piss the neighbours off.
Electric windows/full Calais interior swap, depending on if I can find one cheap enough.
In 2 years time-maybe, I'll stick a turbo/supercharger or drop an L67 in. Maybe, or maybe I'll buy something else.

    Things I won't be changing:
Suspension. If you saw the angle my driveway is at you'd understand. FE2 is low enough for me. I also like being able to go over speed humps faster than 2 km/h... [I'm looking at you, JC.]
Wheels. I like my stock wheels. The Police don't seem to notice them. Tyres are $100 as opposed to quite a bit more. 20's on a VS look horrible, and I'm kind of going for a bit of a sleeper look as well.

Anyway here are some pics of my noble steed, taken at the Ballina Lighthouse near where I live. These are a few months old and not exactly the best pics either. Since these were taken I've got my green P's and someone did some minor remodeling to the rear of the car which I am getting fixed soon.

Window P-plates are apparently illegal in NSW. I doubt you'd be able to see through the tinting on the back especially. In any case it doesn't really bother me having the P plates visible, if anything I think the cops leave me alone more because I'm not trying to hide anything. At least that was the implication I got from the last copper who pulled me up for a breath test-"It's good to see people not trying to hide their P-Plates"

Doubt I'll be selling much off it in the near future but if I do I'll definitely let you know. A few people around already have first option on some bits off it though.

As for the spoiler, apparently it and the whole boot lid will end up being replaced as part of fixing the damage where someone in a Triton decided to rear end me. I've heard that you can't get the lip spoiler anymore so I don't know what will happen there. In fact I've been told there's a few bits specific to the S that are hard to come by these days...

Nothing major. Put 6x9 speakers in the back, VR Calais leather/cloth seats in. Cleaned the engine bay slightly. Still talking about the electric windows and level 3 cluster and everything else I mentioned. I goes I do have the parts to do it all with today so some progress has been made

It's sort of coming together though. I'll update with some more recent pics soon. Right now it looks like a garbage truck on wheels with stuff strewn across the back seats, passenger seat, passenger foot well, as well as stuffed under the driver's seat...

Looks good! Give the engine bay a bit of a clean up with a damp sponge or something, just to get rid of the dirt and dust.

No, I haven't serviced it yet but will do so soon. The oil is still nice and brown so I'm not too worried now, even though she did cop a good thrashing the other day! Just this afternoon I changed [one of] the battery terminals as they were getting a little bit old, corroded and loose. I'll do the other tomorrow... probably. If I get time. If not this weekend or the next or the next.

If you mean at Oberon, nothing actually happened. I had the coolant flushed a week or so before, and they evidently over filled the coolant bottle, so a bit came out the overflow. I just saw green water and thought that finding out exactly where the green was coming from would be a smart idea. Better to be safe than sorry!

So, as requested here is bascially what I've done to the car over the past few years. The list is... short.

A mate had a VR Calais that he wrote off, to make back some of the losses he sold it off for parts. I snapped up the Leather/Cloth seats, level 3 cluster and power windows, including the door trims to suit off him, I've only got around to actually putting the seats in though.

[note seat belt lazily left hanging where it fell]

Brought a set of reverse sensors from SuperCheap and installed them. Haven't decided how I'm going to get them painted yet. I tried to paint them with some el cheapo spray paint I had lying around, but it started to peel so I took the rest of it off.

Cleaned the engine bay up a bit. It's not exactly spotless but it's better than it was. I'm still nervous about the idea of spraying lots water in around an engine!

Put metal valve cap covers on, one of those subtle things that makes things look that little bit nicer.

Other than that the car is about as I brought it, which was more or less as it left the factory. Plans for the future, other than installing the L3 cluster and Power Windows, which I will get around to sooner rather than later... It has a few scratches, chips and a few minor dents and what not it has picked up over the years and I'd like to get these fixed. Other than that I don't know what my plans for it are for the future. I get off my P's in December, and while I would like to upgrade to something else, I find it hard to justify the indulgence given I also have an eye on getting into a house of my own. I'm leaning towards keeping the car as it's been good to me over the past 3 years, doing some minor mods to it and keeping it as a daily until it runs it's course. The car owes me nothing, I brought it for $3600 with 168,000 km on it and it now has 228,000 on it today, in that time all it's needed replaced was a rear muffler, some suspension bushes, brake pads/rotors, the radiator and alternator,. The gearbox is still good, the engine runs strong, and it doesn't give me any signs of being about to die. I'm thinking I might as well keep it, look after it and I'll probably get another 100,000 km easily out of it, but I just don't know.

Engine bay looks a lot better, you don't need to spray it with water to make it look nice.

Mines only got 1000km's on it more than yours and is still going very strong. They're a great car.

Yeah, that's why I don't want to get rid of it, as a daily I doubt I will ever get anything that is a reliable and cheap to keep running as this has been.

I did use a bit of degreaser and sprayed it off with water from one of those garden weed sprayer things. It did the job well enough but it could be better. I'm working on it...

Truth be told, comfort wise they are about the same. The leather/cloth is quite comfortable to sit on, especially on hot days, maybe slightly softer to sit in compared to the older seats, but they weren't exactly bad themselves either. Neither are exactly "sports" seats though, and sometimes if I'm pushing it through the twisty bits, some more bolstering and support might be nice. It was as much as anything a visual upgrade as a comfort upgrade, the price was right as well so of course I jumped on them when they became available.
