Not simple at all. There are many parts of an oil filter which affect overall quality:

- thickness of the can
- material the ADBV is made of
- filtering media material
- bypass valve construction and pressure required to activate it
- inlet holes (size and number)
- gasket material, (silicone or nitrile)
- core construction and material

the list goes on..

I give up
You just keep going bruz
And all this to warn that oem filter is problematic...which is not...

I just keep going? Huh? I responded to your claim that an oil filter is a simple part..which it isn't?

Go ahead and use your OEM filter, it probably won't cause a single issue. But there are better options, it's that simple.

Again though..how many cut them open to check? This one guy did..fancy being the only one out of millions to have a dud.....

Looking at the picture, it is funny he has a pair of snub nosed pliers in shot.....

Makes me think how the filter got damaged to begin with

Food for thought

Pardon the watermark:-

from Bob is the oil guy..this is a PF48E with around 11000kms on it..I’m not at all convinced of its reliability. I’ll go with quality aftermarket.

How disgusting is that oil.

If I'd been trying to filter that I would have collapsed as well from now being able to breathe.

Talk about blaming the product when the owner should be flagged for pushing it way beyond its design limits.
