You can buy plenty of MAF cleaner in aerosol cans at Repco. check the air cleaner, and throttle body too for build up, chunks etc
Engine + install, new fluids etc was $3500. Considering Holden quoted over $4000 to repair the old engine that died for no real reason I was pretty happy with that. and by new engine I meant new as in replacement from a wreckers, not a brand newie still in the crate . Driving technique makes a big difference though too. When I first got the car back on the road I was driving pretty poorly due to not having a car for a few years, got back into the rythm of things and slowly saw the usage come down from ~13 to ~10L/100km.
i'm getting on a WL Caprice 190KW Engine, between 8.9 - 10.9 on highway 12.5 - 14.5 city. occasionally spirited driving, 156,000km.
That's pretty good compared to my 2 tonne Wl caprice. Getting on the highway 15L/100km at an average speed reading of 38km/h. Iv got new: plugs Coil packs 98 OCT Cleaned intake manifold Changed o2 sensors Only thing I haven't done yet is clean the MAF sensor. Also running on duel fuel if that has some sort of effect on the economy?
So I finally went out to repco and picked up the MAF sensor cleaner and pulled out the MAF giving it a nice clean. I haven't drivin enough for the car computer to recognize a change however....first thing I realized was the smoother idle instantly. So it's looking good 20 bucks lol
Thought I would put my 2 cents worth in: 140,000km on the clock 5 speed auto 2 hole mod K&n filter Stock cats with 2 1/4s leading into a 2 1/2 with resonator and twin tip. 7L / 100km on the freeway. 10L+/ 100km around town
