Hello, I've just bought an old 2006 RA Rodeo Alloytec. I realise it's not a commodore but the engines seem to be related. What fuel is best for this old motor? 91, 95, 98 or the 94 (ethanol)? It has about 200,000 km on it. Unfortunately I don't know the history, no leaks in the motor. There is no handbook and when I try and find it on the net I just get directed to fuel consumption discussions etc.

Thanks for any help. I really miss my vn berlina manual wagon... :(

I've just moved back from Bowen to Brisbane - is there any mechanics who specialise in Commodore engines etc in Brisbane?

i use 95 in all our vehicles and petrol power equipment as i dont like e10 which is the most common cheapest fuel we get here and a lot manufacturers strongly recommend not to use it unless it other wise stated in the hand book or manual it is ok to use

The fundamentals are the same but not much else. It'll run on any of them fine. For 'best' results in performance and economy you'll have to run a few tanks of each and see

The straight non ethanol 91 is fine for these but no matter what you throw in it it'll chug fuel like an alcoholic at a Christmas party.

On sports sedans like the SV6 98 is best because the engine will add more timing untill it reaches the threshold of the knock sensor. So using 91 in a SV6 will likely end up with a degree or two more retarded.
