You don’t use tape.
You need thread lock. It’s a liquid that you put on. It’s used on bolt threads. There is different types. I have never needed it, but you might. The red thread lock is used at manufacture.
I suspect your problem is in the pipe/hose.

have you blown into the hose it could blocked mine doesn t make any noise at all and i just tapped it in with socket and i didn t use any thread lock at all
i did buy a new orifice and drill the holes bigger even have a new pcv genuine hose here sitting in the shed as a spare and i did blow into old one and its clear from both ends

Yea I’ll take the hoses out and see how they are, the suction and everything seemed fine when I have the valve in the hose and blocking the holes, just when I had the valve in, with the hose on, it’s hissing. I will try blowing through the hoses and fitting the valve without tape and see what happens.
Appreciate the big help! Will let you’s know how it goes.

Did this update today, the hardest part was getting the thing out, but only because I wasn't interested in removing many of the hoses.

The plug itself was fairly gunked up but wasn't hard to clean it out.

Haven't taken it out yet to see if there is any noticeable improvement.

Doubtful, but happy the PCV issue is now less of an issue.

Not sure I have said this,

But the best way to remove this item,
Get hold of some Rubber hose that will fit over the top of the Valve/Fitting,
Then use a pair of plyers and twist it, and wiggle it [not too vigorously] and it should then be able twist out,,
Care MUST BE TAKEN not to split the Cam Cover, as it is only plastic.
But if the Valve is gunked up,
Possibly the -
PCV Hose/pipe is blocked also,
Cam Cover baffles are the same,
As mine were Chock-a-block on my Adventra LY7 when I did the chains,
So IMHO, is to remove the Cam Cover, and degrease/clean it
and that should solve any future PVC issue for some time.

There has been some experts on some "facebook pages" [will remain nameless],
but wouldn't be hard to work it out going by my addy/comment, they said that was a great idea to remove it,
[and that was an expert said that to me directly]
Then they blocked me, with no ill comments toward them,
Their loss, my gain, to share my knowledge here.
We all know what an Expert is !!!

Removing the PCV is an absolutely ridiculous and poorly educated bit of advice.

The motor runs better with it and we should all be conscious of doing our little bit for the environment. It’s there for a reason.

Oops,
When I said to remove it,
I meant to remove it to clean it from the gunk for maintenance.

Then refit it by tapping it back in lightly into the cam cover.

PS: it never meant to sound like Removing it completely. :rolleyes:

Wait. I'm confused. They said it would be a good idea to remove it? Or your idea on how to remove it was good?
Your idea for removing it is really good.

No, I never said that at all. You may have inferred it based upon my brevity, but thought given the nature of the thread it'd be understood this is relevant to removing and replacing the PCV valve after modifying it with a few holes.

The thing I'd wonder about if the PCV valve were entirely removed would be how much muck would find its way through the hoses etc. When I removed mine it was full of crud. Can only imagine that by removing it entirely it'd somehow reduce the life time of the engine.

That's contrary to what I'm doing atm. Not that I want to derail this topic with my antics or go off into opinion land about the logic, but the SV6 is copping a supercharger and the current work is to ensure the engine can put up with forced induction so anything I'm doing at this point would only support that. Removing a PCV valve entirely never sounds like a good idea.
