could be overheating, is it mounted right, not upside down or covered up or something is it, what amp, cheapo or decent.

Well usually this happens because the amplifier is under powered. What are the ratings of your Subs and the amplifier ?

Maybe you could get this thread moved to the Car audio section for more reply's :)

its either not recieving enough power (too small of amp wiring from battery or insufficient battery power, do your headlights/instrument cluster lights dim?) or as DVS said its being drawn on too hard, if you're running 2 subs, disconnect one and try it at the "cut out" volume.

    What he said.

If it's a lack of power issue, you'll need to upgrade the big 3... Or at least some of it. Battery, Alternator, Wiring. Having the battery closer to the amp will help also...

Or you could go the cheap option and buy a capacitor... :bang:

I set up my amp and sub last week and the exact same thing is happening to me.
    Running a 15" Pioneer sub - 1200 watts 450 rms
And its running off a cheap asian amp off ebay ( got it free ).

Turn it up to high and it cuts out. changed the earth wire to a thicker one. Running a 4 gauge wiring kit so i dont think thats the issue.

You're probably overloading the amp... And again, the battery and alternator need upgrading. You'll probably find it can go louder with the engine running, and hence the alternator pumping charge into the circuit.
