But to answer your question on who buys a nice place by the ocean, if they believe in climate change, maybe it’s someone who can afford an ocean view to add to the many other properties they have, including ones up in the mountains. For the moment they may prefer ocean views, later in the year the changing colours of the hills...
Such people may also have a firm view that the global population won’t ever resolve this issue (fatalist of sorts) or they may think that the time line and their age make it irrelevant (the next generation can try and sort it out when the problem is clearly at their feet cause the old guys couldn’t).
Me, if I had the spare cash to buy a few places, one would definitely be by the sea.... regardless of a belief in climate change or not.
At the end of the day, we all die and you can’t take your wealth with you.... and if you’re really wealthy, leaving obscene amounts to your kids just screws them up (which is why many of the uber rich leave a comfortable amount to their offspring but donate the rest to some charity - or so they’ve said they'd do that). Me I don’t have that uber rich problem.
The reality is that hypocrisy is rampant within humans, not just limited to politicians. But that fact can’t and doesn’t mean a particular stance is false... only that an individual is a hypocrite...
