to be honest, once youve painted the roof and boot i feel like youre overcome by the colour, which is why i decided to 2 tone mine. that boot is such a huge surface area and once youre done looking at it, youre kinda sick of the colour.

ideally i was looking for ways of breaking it, like the chrome strips, pinstriping, blending colours, i.e. dark on the bottom and light on the top fading in, shadow tones etc etc. all of them really didnt do anything for me. what i started getting into was the mexican low-rider styles. crazy colour combos, wild stripes, lllllllots of chrome etc.

to be honest, the only 65'/66's ive seen in single colours that i liked have all been just solid, white, yellow, red etc.

but again, thats a coupe, not sure if you pull it off on a 4 door.

i find this incredibly boring:

hmmm i actually quite like this stripe. again its a coupe, but that 'bullet' is the same on ours, it just doesnt go as far into the door:

this is how im seperating mine:

so visually, if you look at the car side on, there is no white, save for the A and C pillars and partial roof. then as you approach the car, as you see more white, you see less green. if that makes sense. i figure youre not overpowered by one colour at a time.

see to my eye this also works well because silver and white blend well into each other. theyre very similar colours so in full sun you may be tricked into thinking the whole car silver, but as your view changes, then so does your perception of what colour it is, it makes it more interesting to look at.

see to look at a car for more than a few seconds, you need to be entertained. if its just 1 colour, you can breeze over the car because visually it isnt doing anything. its just that car. yes you can look at panel reflections and check out chrome, but if its not dancing and changing, then its easy to just get bored with looking at it.

its like a youtube vid. if youre just looking at a screen of someone talking, they may be really interesting, but soon enough youll flick to a webpage while they talk and you wont really listen, whereas if you watch a clip of dudes crashing their bikes, youre far more likely to keep watching.

and to me, staring at my car is one of my favorite passtimes. so i wanna keep myself occupied.

I think that's the problem I was having, 2 doors look good in just about anything, but 4 doors...

Agreed, massive expanses of the same colour does look a tad boring.

Also, this paint job looks awesome, when I first saw it I thought it was just silver, but that white really works, something like that could look good on a 4 door.

By the way, I like where yours is heading and I would consider a similar style but I only want to steal so many ideas from you. lol.

That looks sweet! The flames kind of give it something else too.

I need to find that colour code.

Ari,

I realise you have said it looks ok on this occasion, but no matter how much somebody disliked red, who couldn't lust after that red four door pillarless? I don't care much for mid 60's American iron, but that car.......

yes please.
