perhaps there wasn't enough time? I've had times with roos and deer like that. I see them, no time to brake without hitting it and who knows what the horn will do. Only options left is hit it or swerve around it....I personally take the swerve if I can option, otherwise I'm calling my uncle to fire up his smokehouse cause we are having roo tonight! btw...I put dibs on the TBE
Roos dont move if you hit the horn they generally freeze (same as when they get blinded by headlights) My uncles been thru 3 hiluxes due to this....
silly man shoulda bought a bullbar roo's are pretty dumb, and your right about them freezing. best thing you can do is slow down and swerve, which is quite obvious. but even then who know whats they are gunna do. could jump infront of you or whatever.
All the luxs had bull bars, them big red roos are big mofos  only thing worse than hitting a roo is hitting a wombat....
**** yeah ive seen damage from a wombat they r built like brick **** houses and after it looks like uve driven through a brick wall
I always drive through kangaroo country with windows down and stereo pumping hopefully to scare them away and let them know i'm coming also have heard about these things called 'roo shoo' that is a device that you put on the front of your car and emits a certain frequency which is supposed to scare them off.
Looks like $1.60 to me Anyways, when you see something like that in the middle of the road first reaction would be to swerve, I know I would... Hitting it front on could have been worse for you and your passanger, if it was to hit the windscreen or something... Damn man... Cant get over those pics ey, once again, very lucky everyone was ok
Wow it's not often you associate a crash like that with a kangaroo. The car however came out amazingly well considering. Good to hear you're all mostly ok and hopefully it'll be a lesson learned for everyone
Aww man glad ur okay, But the poor poor car:'( can i have it lmao , ive never had a close encouner with an animal i did tho with a human, im driving at 2am from work and outa nowhere theres this dark complexion guy standing on the road next to hes car not even caring that u cant see him in the dark opens his door i had to swerve off and on2 the other side of the road, im lucky there was no oncoming cars as i would of been finish and it would of been my faul if i killed him or some1 in the other car..thats if i survived...they dont care i mean comon as i came 1 meter apart i saw him its like he was invisible...dark clothes 2 thats just stupid. anyway ye good luck with the car. Dragz.
also people should remember that swerving to miss an animal on the road is a no no>if u hit another car insurance will say ur at fault as u left ur correct driving line>><<mum worked in fraud investigations for AAMI and sister is at NRMA>>>
That's no good. R33's look nice. Any idea if that running gear will fit into a VL? Could be a cheap way back onto the road with a bit of hard work.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. The kangaroo jumped onto the road from the right side of the road, about 50m ahead of me, before I really had time to react at 80kmh I was already going past the damn thing. I swerved got sideways, slammed on the brakes and travelled about 30m down the road sideways slowly going towards the edge of the road, before I eventually rolled over the edge, and the rest is history.
It'd be cheaper just to buy a turbo VL. The RB30DET also has more power I'll either find a rolling shell, or just sell it all and cut my losses, and by a new one in a few months.
