Too many Comodores in the driveway
Thought I would do another build over Xmas, got hold of a nice VR Berlina V6 that needs a bit of TLC to the body.
Mechanical's are grouse, the engine is a pearler with only 204000km, gearbox has a shift kit and is perfect, diff is a single spinner (I might put an LSD in).
It's got SL Kings & Monroe lowered shocks & struts all round, 17" mags with near new tires.
I've already swapped the interior for a VS Calais interior, the electric windows work perfectly as does the climate control and the A/C is freezing.
It's got a good stereo with Kenwood speakers.
The body work needs attention only, panels are straight as but the paint is average so I'm going to rub it back and hit it with some fresh paint.
Going to do a 2 tone on it, keeping the silver paint colour but lay a bottom colour in dark grey (almost black) and spray the rims in a darker shade of grey.
I think this will suit nicely .
Then a sports exhaust will go on.

The rims have had a bit of gutter rash on the left of the car so I might rub them back and spray them a dark grey .

Vt with VU/VZ bits
Awesome find mate, looks extremely straight and clean (seats excluded)!!

What's the plan with your build? Are you aiming for performance or looks, or a happy medium?

The plan is to give the seats a steam clean and re-stitch the rear head rest's then that's the interior cleaned.
The paint will be done in the next few weeks (I'm starting wed).
The motor goes really well as it is now and will get a cold air box and a good exhaust (thinking a Red Back sports system).
I'll most likely sell this one once it's finished.

Got a bit of work done today before the heat :)
First up I fixed the battery box as it had some rust holes.
VRBerlina003.jpg

Then I hit it with the wire wheel & sprayed some matt black over it
VRBerlina008.jpg

VRBerlina011.jpg

Cut some rubber strips for the battery to sit on
VRBerlina017.jpg

VRBerlina018.jpg

All done.
Next up I sanded the spare wheel well as it had a lot of surface rust & crap on it
VRBerlina022.jpg

Took the alternator off to change the reg & check the bearings
VRBerlina026.jpg

Put it all back together and she is putting out 14 volts :) perfect.
Now all I have to do is change the water pump (it's leaking) and the mechanical's are done.
Time to start rubbing the panels now.

Been busy in the shed working on the Berlina, the front bar, guards, bonnet & rear bar have been sanded back then I have filled in the stone chips & repaired the minor rash on the front bar & back bar.
VRBerlina038.jpg

VRBerlina037.jpg

Then I got to sanding it all down so it's smooth ready for paint
VRBerlina066.jpg

VRBerlina072.jpg

Once that was finished I decided to give the panels that aren't being painted a cut & polish.
First up was the roof

All doors

Now I'm ready for paint, hope they're open tomorrow.

Righto got stuck into painting this arvo after work
VRBerlina073.jpg

VRBerlina075.jpg

VRBerlina082.jpg

VRBerlina086.jpg

Really happy how it came out too
VRBerlina087.jpg

Took the rims off and detailed the brakes front & back
VRBerlina101.jpg

VRBerlina106.jpg

Sanded back the rims and hit them with some Audi Pewter
VRBerlina098.jpg

VRBerlina102.jpg

Now the build will slow down, it will sit in the shed for a week or two for the paint to harden before the Berlina gets a cut & polish.
Exhaust is next then a water pump and hopefully rego in 2 weeks.

Off the gun "in the shed"
VRBerlina110.jpg

I'm liking the grey rims with the silver paint, I got talked into leaving it straight silver as it looks really clean (2 tone would look good also)

Great work. My bonnet also needs a respray. I was quoted prices over $800 to do it. Just the bonnet! What a joke.

Yeah was thinking of doing a full respray but the paint is in grouse nic and it is a straight silver colour which is easy to match (done a few over the years).
Today I got a present when I got home ........ a steam cleaner :) so I cleaned up the interior on all our cars, the Berlina came up ace.
