I need to change my vt v6 Rocker Cover Gaskets
Please Does anyone have and tips or Advice??
Your V6 has a rocket ?
Lol, for future reference. Rocker Covers.
Lol at rocket
Mate just keep a rag under the covers so you dont spill any oil onto the extractors. It's a Pretty easy job..... Whilst i had mine off i painted mine. Was well worth it.
Thanks for that
Any silicon needed???
No torque setting needed???
I wish my vt was a rocket !!
I bought the part today from local auto shop
Its also called valve cover?????
Or do i have wrong part???
Just thinking bout paint my car is blue..
What colour do you think i sould paint rocker covers??
What colour did you paint them???
And what colour is your car???
Mine are blue and car is Beige
My Gregory's says to use Vaseline on the gasket to hold it in while you put the cover back on, otherwise it will just fall out when you turn cover right way up. I find it much easier.
i've always used the Permatex Form-a-gasket to hold it on
Whatever works, I had vasoline on hand so I used it, But next time I may just use some gasket sealer.
Please some advice i'm planing to do mine 2 morrow..
On your vx Did the alternator needed to be moved???
Throttle body needs to be removed???
Alternator throttle body needs to be removed?????
Does the throttle body and alternator needs to be removed???
Have a look at it and move anything that is in the way,
But if you dont know what your doing it might be better for you to get someone else to do it.
I had to move mine on the L67 and the spark plug leads to make it easier. Oh and if your wondering i painted mine chevy orange.
Alternator, no.. TB. definitely. You've got buckleys chance of getting that sucker out without removing the throttle body.
The vaseline is a great idea, wish I thought of it back when I did mine. It's a pretty easy job, but that little trick with the vaseline (or gasket goo) would totally make it easier.
Just undo the 10mm on the Alternator Bracket, the bottom 13mm bolt of the alternator, and loosen the top bolt so you can swing it up a fraction. Makes it a shitload easier than struggling to get it past.
Thanks heaps for that
The vassline only used to hold gasket on rocker cover??
Ot Should i use gasket goo on both sides to seal it up??
Should only need the vas to hold it in place. Dont need any further sealant.
You always have Vasoline handy
