You could wire them up to the roof (dome) light.
Installing the dome light with the map lights is not that simple. I tried it and could not get it going properly, the wiring is different and I couldn't get it working as it should. But there would be a way to do it.

Hey mate, if you have the roof wiring for them its fairly easy. If you dont have the other end of the clip, cut it off. Extend the wiring. The orange and white wires will be the longest. Now pull out your back seat. the main wiring harness is what you are after. You also may have to plastic floor mounting. Now run the wires behind the rear piller piece (If you take it off it's easier) Now the orange wire goes to the orange wire in the main side loom goes to the existing orange wire (INT. lights) already there. Same with the white wire (door switch) The black wire goes to metal. Or the ground wire in the loom.

This is how they are done from factory, and uses the existing fuse under the dash.

I may have some pics somewhere on my computer if your still confused.

I'm trying to do the same thing now and am still a little confused anymore help would be great?

I also just installed a calais dome light and for some reason the map lights turn on the centre light rather than their respective map lights any ideas why? I have an LED festoon light installed but am yet to change the map lights if that makes any difference????

I'm pretty useless with electrics

The attached wiring diagrams might help. You need Adobe 9 to open them. Good luck.

just a little update: got hold of a halogen festoon light to see if that would make any difference and surprise surprise the festoon light and map lights all worked. Put the LED back in and back to all switches just operating the festoon light.

My thinking is now that there must be something in the circuit which tells it to switch on the one drawing the least power or something therefore only the LED working???
