2009 ve sv6 .. bought car today, drove beautiful for half hour then this.. blowing white steam/smoke (unsure), lost power, massive fume/petrol smell, running very very rough, barely ideling.. changed coils and plugs, but still has

Compression test?
I don't think the inlet manifold on the Alloytec is water cooled like it was on the Ecotec so it shouldn't be leaking water into the engine from there. I've never heard of it happening anyway.
Head gasket is a possibility though, and an ugly one too!

Sounds like head gasket like what everyone else is saying. Curiously, how many kms on the car?

Greenacc is right, inlet manifold isn't water cooled.
