Also started getting wiring through to the back for camera and some other stuff.
Extra wires for brake trigger to be used for forward facing camera (at a later date), for light under the hard lid, for integrating the hard lid into the central locking, and a spare wire.

This has wiring for a boot release button in the glove box. I’m wondering if I can find pinouts for a boot actuator on the BCM.

I’m doing all that now because it’s shitty to do and I’d rather take extra time now to do it, than do it later.

This is from the rear wheel well. The harness plug is for the factory rear harness when separating the tub from the chassis. I’ll be putting plugs in the same spot or similar spot for the same reason.

The harness grommet is the round thing with the grey tape on the loom.

Looking through from inside with the grommet out. There’s quite a gap between the rear firewall and where the wiring can be seen. It’s hard to get it through and there’s a plastic firewall trim to make it harder still to reach it from the other side.

I’m not a fan of cutting into loom grommets. Would prefer to do a new hole with its own grommet. On these though, that’s tub off, rear panel removed and insulation removed. So that’s a no.
I made a cross shaped slice in it. Got the wires through together. Has convoluted tube on the bit between the grommet and where the new loom comes out.

Once this is done. I can start getting the interior back in and move on the the outside and underside of the car.
Rear drive shaft boot needs doing.

Just realised. Dash cam wiring.
I'll need to learn up how they are hard wired. Front and back.
I'll also need to go and find a convenient 12v source.

I’m confident that a wagon fuel lid can be used easily.
All the fixture points are there on the chassis for the release lever. Will need a sedan front seat trim.
The wagon cable should reach.
The hole for the cable is there in the sheet metal.

The screws are from the door trim seal that fits to the body.

The body was really grot under there so it got a clean. Screw holes painted. Screws painted (as in above post). APC and a brush. Microfiber to wipe it off.

The seal was crusted with mold. I scrubbed it with APC, then sugar soap, then APC and a scourer. Still had moly’s embedded into the rubber. I then used some mould remover. Was better, but not perfect. It’s going to have to do.

Treated the rust with some Ranex. So that went black. They often have rust on the underside.

Then painted with zinc cold galv. Sprayed it into a container and brushed it on.

So. The fuel door.
I decided to give it a miss... for now.

The Ute fuel flap and wagon fuel flap attach to the body the same. The Crewman and Ute have the hole in the sheet metal which houses the scrivet. It’s not quite the correct size for the lock. The hole will need to be cut/filed square to suit and for that, I’m going to need a template from a wagon to do it in the correct position.

The release lever fits. The cable just has to be pushed through the rear harness seal and sealed again. The sedan and wagon cables have ample length.

Then the wagon fuel flap can be fitted.

The Crewman/Ute carpet needs to be cut to allow the release lever to fit. That needs to be done really carefully. I’d prefer to make a template for that from a sedan. Then it would be easy enough. Get it wrong and the whole carpet will need to be replaced.

Also need the sedan lower right seat rail trim.

So, until I have some templates, it’s a project for another day. I have everything except the filler door.

I also found someone who makes a repair kit if your fuel filler door has snapped and it looks like it will be super strong after the repair is done.

I got the rust off the retaining wire and screws. Painted up. Treated the rubber seal with aerospace 303, and it’s now so soft, it’s like new.

So tonight I discovered those boxes under the back seatI though were glued to the floor and gave me so much heart ache trying to get the seat belts back in. Well one was never fitted to the floor properly at the factory. Pretty much an unsealed floor.

I was looking under the car and noticed the part of those plastic boxes that fits into a hole in the floor pan, was never fitted correctly in the factory.

It has a ridge that fits inside the floor pan cutout, but this one was partly sitting up on the floor pan, so never sealed. The butle seal has never been able to do its job. It was slightly off centre.

All cleaned up and ready to be refit.

Slightly annoyed at how much trouble I had getting the seat belt bolts in.

How it sits correctly on the right side.

Who was wanting to know about the containers that fit into the boxes under the Crewman seat?

I found who made them for Holden:

That was me.
I remember them from looking at the Sydney Motor Show, great idea, but then later I thought they may have been a 'show and tell' item that didn't make it to production.
They are probably on Ebay now with chickens teeth, rocking horse poo and unicorn feathers.
