Went looking amongst my collected useless info, because I read somewhere in Wheels/Motor mag back when, that the transfer case had something to do with Hummer, but as usual could not find what I was looking for.

I think you are correct figjam.That link l posted, the TBM link mentions the Hummer.

They have a different bolt pattern. The Holden one isn't round.

I just found it's the software that's used on a H1 Hummer.

Literature also mentions that the adaptor housing is not made by Holden.

edit: Doing some looking and bugger me, that's it! Even looks like the same cross member mount!

Sometimes it is easier to consult Mrs Google than to go looking amongst old printed matter. But this may be confusing me, the software system V the mechanical bits.

The transfer case is a New Process/New Venture NP124, it is used in quite a few different AWD vehicles from many manufacturers.

I have looked into changing it out for a proper HI/LOW range transfer case, Marks Adapters make adapters to suit many GM autos.

The problem is changing the trans or transfer case will mean new custom front and rear driveshafts and with a longer trans you may start to run out of room in the tunnel.

The manual conversion and various auto conversions show it's doable.
The 6 speed manual conversion into a VY2 worked... well!
The 6L80E sits well in there. Rear shaft VZ, front modified VE.
The length of the 4L80E v 6L80E is about 10mm.
Should be good with custom drive shafts.

I have not yet seen anyone do a 6L80E into a cross 8/ 6 or a BMW E46 AWD. LS conversions are popular on those.

So we now know we need a 6L80E to NV124 transfer case adaptor housing.

We know the NV 124 is used on BMW E46 AWD 3 series and the Cross 6 and Cross 8.
