Seems Alice wasn’t the only one to go down the OCD rabbit hole :p

A bit of surface rust to deal with. Easy enough. All those spots are from metal filings. It was a ute belonging to a roof safety mesh mob, so I guess a grinder was used near it. Could also be swath from drilling holes for the tray liner. Either way, it will be gone.

A bit of Ranex worked into it, wipe and rinse off. Should be good.
The rust marks on this are from the cheapo metal strip that holds the tub liner tail gate section on. That will be getting a solid wire wheel, and then zinc coated black paint.

Found some 316 stainless screws to use in place of the crap ones before. Also considered nutserts.

Rear bumper off, ready to fit the reverse camera. Got a clean. Sugar soap and then magicians wheel cleaner to pull metallic crud and years of road grime off.

Lights out to get to the nuts that hold the bumper on. Two 10mm nuts easy enough to see. Remove the cover and behind that is two more 10mm nuts.

Two 10mm nuts where the red arrows are. Accessed from inside the tub. With the tailgate down, undo the 13mm bolts located in green.
Then under the bumper, there’s two scrivets where blue arrows are.

You’ll need to detach the number plate lights.

Got a clean in the same way.

Used these particular brushes for detailing the engine bay and tougher parts of the cars exterior. I have had these for years now. As good or better than expensive detailers brushes.

Some of the other brushes I use for interior wet cleaning, vacuuming getting into the crevices (that’s what she said) and vents etc. Wrap the metal parts with Tesa tape or electrical tape so it doesn’t scratch by accident.

Good for hard to reach places like glove box, down between the seats, into map pockets.

The disrespected clips off my Cross 8.

Holden clips made of gold and sapphire, or some sht.

I busted the clips holding the flares on. I’ll be fkd if I’m paying near on $200 for all four corners of the car to have plastic clips. Get fkd.

Turns out, they use almost the same clips as BMW X5 rear wheel flares. So the transfer case was not the only thing pinched from BMW. The clips are plentiful and fit the 7mm hole in the panel. Can get a pack of 50 for about $20.

Also for Adventra and Cross 8, Coupe 4 owners etc Mini wheel flare clips also look promising. Cheap as.

This is the wheel cleaner I’ve always used. It’s essentially an iron remover which is sometimes used after washing before doing paint correction.
I’ve never used it for cleaning the underside of the car though.

Have you looked at the asking prices for Cross8s lately. Nothing under $20K. o_O

On a different tack, I priced a set of rear shocks for the Cross6 today ........ $248 per side.
That is from Pedders, cause I can't find anywhere else online, and other quotes have have been for a 'Crewman', and I suspect that they would be different physical sized shock.
Any suggestions on that, Fu ?

I’ll be looking for similar length shocks from a more modern vehicle.

Was wondering if coil overs would be possible as well?
