Also looking at this roof harness plug.

White with green is interior light I’m quite sure. Might make a loom for floor lighting under the seats and front foot wells coming off the roof harness side. Doesn’t interfere with the main harness then.

It was recommended on the Latys Garage Youtube channel. He uses it for painting wheels. He says it really resistant to brake dust and wear and tear.

I’ll be using it on my wheels soon and thought it was a good chance to try it out.

Nice, on the door strickers did you end up going poly tube or rubber?

Neither yet. I can’t get my preferred poly tube in 6mm black.

Will try 6mm vacuum tube, but it might be too thick.

My other VZ hasn’t got the plastic anymore. Doesn’t make a difference.

Maybe try something like Plastidip. It may do the trick.

Finished off the headlights.

@Jolls, holy sht that duplicolour stuff is insane!!

So I got a good finish on them, a few pages back in this thread.

I gave them a wipe with an IPA and a microfibre. On went this stuff and OMG!

They look new almost. I say almost because the dust was a bit attracted to the surface. I couldn’t get rid of it.
It doesn’t show in the photo, buts there if you look really close.

It’s really thin. Start at the top and work across the length of the headlight. Then move toward the bottom of the headlight. It runs down the headlight, almost like thick water.

Highly recommend product.

It’s comes as a two step thing. However, their step 1 is not anywhere near as good as doing it with progressively finer grades of wet and dry. If you can find 3000 grit as the last one, results would be like new.

And then. Then it was time.

The door seals. I soaked them overnight in Aerospace 303. Then I used some silicon grease in the pinch weld to try prevent some of what had happened to the seams.
I gently closed the pinch weld seal up with a rubber mallet. This way, the seals go on nice and tight. Started in the top rear corner of every door. The excess silicon grease was worked into the seals. Apparently Honda recommend this to be done on door seals and it’s an advised service item.

So the door seals on, and then the gutter trim/seal. Holden recommend these screws have some silicone sealant added to the threads. They have a yellow/orange wax on them. Then the rear outer trim. I got all the screws painted up. They were a bit average so now look good in a fresh black zinc spray.

Then the re-trimmed roof lining. It was straight forward with no seats or centre console in there. Super stoked with it. Keep looking at it. That and the headlights. Amazing. If you’ve been reading along, you’ll see I used a black macro suede.

There are small tabs on each corner that hold it up. I got the sun visor clips in too. I’m going to put some LEDs into the sunnies holder tomorrow.

I forgot to get a microphone with a 3.5mm jack. Then I could install it now ready for a CarPlay headunit. Oh well.

Centre console is in. Doesn’t sound hollow or cheap. Sounds like it’s made of steel. Good having the left over bits of sound proofing inside it. I also added some plumbing insulation foam left from the VE HVAC overhaul I did. I put that between everywhere there is a panel join and screw to stop squeaks.

It was nice putting the gauges in.

The whole lot together.

Got the indicators etc in. Column shroud on.

The back seats!
The kids are going to want to sit on them tomorrow.

Also gave the back seats a go over with a magic eraser, Mother’s VLC and a microfibre. More grey schmutz came off.

I played around with using some Palmers Coco Butter on the leather. Amazing! Just put heaps on and let soak in overnight. Then wiped off the excess next day. Softened it up a lot. Much more than the various leather products.

What got me thinking of trying it was the Mother’s leather conditioner was similar to hand cream. So I tried some hand cream and hey presto! Also smells really nice.

Did some LED’s today. Park lights, map lights and went to do glovebox and rear courtesy lamps. The LED festoon lights I had in a box were not 36-37mm :( So onto eBay. Found some (that weren’t $30 each like Supercrap want) and delivery next week.

I don’t have power to the car, so used a 9volt battery to check polarity and if the LEDs work.

I put in LED T10s into the parking lights.

From this Brown is the power into plug E119. Pin 3. Black with white stripe is the earth on pin 1.

Once all the parts are out of the tray, I can get the new lights in, and the reverse camera finished off.

The rear bumper will come off for cleaning.

Then looks like I don’t have to remove the front wheels to get the front wheel well liners out. The Cross8 sits high enough to get the clearance. Then I can clean behind there too.

Have the antenna to replace.
