So we finally had two or three days of delirious sun. It’s been 3mths since a rain free day and my time off coincides. I need a rain free day because the fricken windows are down and there’s no battery for it.

I pushed the other Crewman out the way. Pushed the Cross8 out. I still have the front wheels to paint. Will paint up the front callipers etc. in silver.

The Mrs was stoked to see the garage empty (well it has still got most of the car parts in it). She has her gym in there too and hasn’t been able to do gym things for 12mths.

Cross8 would have been stoked to be out in the WA sun too.

So up on stands. Karcher out. All the important bits are bagged up.

I use commercial fittings on the Karcher and will never use the Karcher proprietary attachments ever. They are junk. I have a swivel, straight extension and a bent extension. Used a Yellow 15° nozzle on this job.

The front underside and engine bay is schmutz and grot free. I think it might be it’s first ever clean. Those familiar with CV’s will know the caked up green grease and the mess it makes. There would be 2 blown out CV grease coatings at least on the wheel well and engine bay.

Got so much caked up yuck off this area. 4 cans of degreaser. It’s almost new looking in every crevice you could think of. Using a range of pressure sprayer attachments, I got exactly the result I wanted. Maybe better.

It’s a bit hard to show the detail of the results, but this area around the front cover and under the throttle body was etched in about 3mm of heat set schmutz.

In particular I spent a bit of effort on the back of the intake and rear plate. I used a swivel head attachment to do it. It rotates round to any angle. 15° nozzle. Job done.

Got up under the heat shielding. Cleaned the front diff really well. Cleaned up the trans and transfer case really well. So happy with it.

My eyes sting from the degreaser mist getting in my eyes. I’m not crying. Shut up.

Cleaned inside the chassis rails with a handy bit of 4mm retic tube attached up to the hose.

This thing had so much history come out. Mud. Sand. The Leylandii confier grot that has been everywhere else on the car. Some gravel.

This tube fits into every hole you can think of including ya sisters. I did the rear chassis as well and it flushed out even more than I could get with the hose all those months ago.

KFrame is a bit rusted but it’s only surface rust. I might try find another one and get it fitted when I get the engine done. Nothing major.

One of those bolts in the PS hoses became a projectile a couple of times when I turned the steering wheel.

More a charge 2 for those familiar with Howitzers. Nothing big.

Export degreaser. Everyone knows what these photos smell like.

Did this today instead of some other shty job because it’s forecast to rain for the next month again after today. Maybe a nice morning. Grabbed the opportunity by the balls and gave it a little twist too.
