Hi all, just a how to if fitting a AP971 Antenna to a VT commodore original bracket instead of using there thin strap in the kit. Mate turns up and couldn't work it out so this is what I did.

* First cut off the bolt hole side bend leaving one bend at the bottom.

* Mark out 50mm on the bottom of bracket center to center leaving the same clearance either side on the outer-side stepping up size as u go around 4.5mm hole in size, note: close as possible without been to close to the edge 7mm in should be ok. This will fit to the new Antenna base using the 2 screws provided.

* Before screwing it on cut a little notch out in the center between the 2 drilled out holes to clear the drain pipe. 5mm in 10mm long should do it. Now you can screw it down in place making sure you put the black earth wire on one of the screws.

* Now put the harness provided where the old one seats oh to remove old one just lever up the locking tab and slide it off.

* Now cut the ends off to fit without to much wire and solder them together but first slide over 2 pieces of heat shrink on each wire. Finnish product in photos.

Little update!! so I install it in today and had to do a little more work to it.

* See in photo with the red oval shape you need to cut some back around 10-15mm from the point.
* Also a bit of bending in the vice to suit in your panel, so its just a matter of putting it into place and bend it into the shape in the vice once you have a little idea how much.
*Then I used 8Gx30 hex self cutting steel bit screw and put it into position and drilled it in with a 25mm washer.
*Then I used a 60mm long hex screw with another washer but first bend a lip, this will stop it from flexing, finish product in photos.
