crikey...i didnt realise how low apprentice wages were.

I was thinking that, but then if you compare it with studying at uni, imagine if you got paid $10/hr to study, you'd be laughing!

damm straight, put it this way, for all the tuning products i bought recently, cost me over 3 weeks pay

im on $489 a week for a third year on base wage (only junior rates)

first yeah was 320, then got pay increase to 340

second got 420, then pay rise to 440

mate of mine at ford in his first year got 280 something,

im lucky being at council, my wage is substantially higher then the normal rate for apprentice's

Wages now are alot better than what they were 5-10yrs ago.

Myself, im on $600 take home thats on 37.5hrs. BUT if i work abit of overtime i get an under the table cash or grog award. :D That is for being a baker (not qualified if you know what i mean) Yes i could work for Safeway and get more, but that involves alot more work than what i do now.

I was on approx. $400/week take home as a first year.
$550 second year
$700 third year
$900 forth year

Apprentice sparky in Melbourne. Finish my time next month and looking forward to the pay rise! Just hope my company keeps me on... things are a bit slow at the moment and there's no guarantee for a position as a qualified sparky if there's not enough work for us all.
