Hard wire kits, not accessory connections. He's looking for a permanent power source, so unless he's trying to drain his battery he's chasing the permanent power source for a hardwire configuration that will have a fuse built in. The accessory kits have inbuilt protection as they're powered through the vehicles 15-20A fuses. If you cut off the connector hardware then yes, I agree you'll need to install a suitable fuse.Not the 2 dash cams I have.....My first dash cam runs from my cigarette lighter, whilst the 2nd one runs from a USB port I have fitted, with a 5 amp fuse in the boot of the car...
Both dash cams are under 12 months old too
