Are the Igntion Coils from a VR S2 the sames as those from a VX

I have a VT S2 aclaim with an ecotec which has started to randomly missfire. The plugs are 3 weeks old and I have replaced the leads but is still occuring. Is it safe to try the coils from the VR to test and see if they are the cause?
