Well the fact the top of the springs is ground flat may make an issue.
Jack the car up and try twisting the springs. If they move AT ALL side to side or anything then thats very dangerous. If the car was to get airborn or something, the springs may not lock back in, basically the same situation as having cut springs.
Either way, there are obviously good reasons for them not meant to be being fitted to VP commodores.
