Are VR front springs the same as vp's

Well the fact the top of the springs is ground flat may make an issue.

Jack the car up and try twisting the springs. If they move AT ALL side to side or anything then thats very dangerous. If the car was to get airborn or something, the springs may not lock back in, basically the same situation as having cut springs.

Either way, there are obviously good reasons for them not meant to be being fitted to VP commodores.

The VR/VS shock is part of the strut where the VN/VP take a cartridge. You still need to take the strut out to replace the springs.

The factory VN/P shockers are part of the strut too, only the replacement gas shockers are a cartridge that slides in where the oil shockers plunger thing used to go. I have the opinion that the rebuildable original ones are better than the replacement cartrige but maybe that's just me
