Hi bob, I have a VR BT1 5.0 and have a ongoing (30 month) problem, no matter what I do I always have a earthing "type" problem for the TPS, O2 sensor and CTS, I have replaced all of these with new units refreshed eyelets and cleaned every bolt/washer on all earthing points that I can find...
The one above the battery on the inner gaurd .
The one on the alternator bracket.
The one on the rear of the passenger side head.
The strap from the alternator to the passenger side inner gaurd (between the airbox and strut tower)

I am at the end of my teather and have got a little info on the Ignition module, can you tell me if anything earths through this to the upper stud, ECU prehaps.

    Thankyou.

sounds like either the steering column sticking and releasing from the rubber firewall grommet, or swaybar bushes sticking and releasing

teh order to bleed is furthest from m/c to closest. rear left, rear right, front left, front right. as for how to, I've only done it with an extra person to help. crack bleed nipple, have person 2 pump brakes until all air is gone, hold pedal, tighten screw. repeat for all 4 wheels. may not be the best way but i've had no problems doing it this way

    engine light

Hi Bob - here's a tricky one for you. 98 Vt Senator Hsv.
It wouldn't start tonight. no noises under bonnet, no clicks, no nothing.
    check engine light stayed on.
Battery light stayed on, but half as bright as usual,(11.7 volts with mode/up button trick) and the oil light stayed on (need oil pressure to make that go out)
can hear the petrol pump priming.

Had to get it transported home.
Did the pin 5/6 and got no codes out of it as the check engine won't go out.

has code 35 - idle air incorrect, and 92 - low speed fan error, a couple days prior, I'm pretty sure neither of those would stop engine from starting.
    Any ideas??
I'm gonna ring the mechanics anyway to come and pick it up again, but would be interested in what you think.
    Cheers
    Murray

Did you check the crank angle sensor, they are always shitting themselves in VT's.

No - didn't check that, the 2 other times the mechanics came out to look at it, it would start for them. This morning it wouldn't, and it took them 45 minutes to get it to crank. Might be the cas, but might not be too, as they drove it away to their workshop.
I'll find out tonite what it was.
