Audio System for my VS

Alrighty,

Been trying to learn more about audio set-up for cars and have gotten some help from people on the forums (thanks guys). I have been looking at car audio on the web for a bit and have found WOW to be a good place for some cheap stuff to help my sound, especially since i'm working on a budget.

Below is what I am planing to add onto my stock commy vs within the next week or so.

All prices are from the 'WOW Sight N Sound' website.

I will go and listen to it before purchase, but budget wise this is mint and will sound alot better than the standard sound system of the vs lol :boxing:

Few questions about the items:

2 x 6.5" speakers - I know that 6" go in easy, I assumed the 6.5" will go in well?

Fusion Reactor Sub - The site had both 12" Fusion 'reactor' and 12" fusion 'encounter'. From what i see on the Fusion Website, the reactors are meant to be better and cost more than the encounters, yet on WOW the encounter is $20 less than the encounter... that make sense?

Boss Audio Amp - Seems to be a pretty good buy since it is only $100 atm and is usually $170! hopefully this system gets good write ups?

PS: anyone know what WOW will charge me for installation on this? I'll phone up tomorrow anyways and find out I guess.
PSS: Was also thinking of getting sub facing into the car and just pull down the centre back seat, hopefully they have enough wiring though so i can move it the other way round if i want too aswell.

the 6.5" speakers will fit into the standard 6" speaker hole with slight modification/cutting of the plastic

if you are good with your hands you should be able to install the whole system yourself if you take your time. give it a day or so.

stay away from Boss they are complete rubbish
look for something from a reputable brand instead to save yourself a whole lot of grief

^---- I agree, and those amps have been known to start fires.... Plus alot of people get the Strathfield Boss Audio amps confused with the American branded Boss Audio. If you can see the amp listed on the website link, it's an ok honest purchase. If the one you're talking about has a model number starting with the letters "BA", it's not in anyway connected to the American branded Boss products.

JSTCOZ, do you intend to put the three ways in the front?? Having three ways in the front would be way to bright. Try and find a set of two way splits, that way you will get a much better sound!

If you are on a budget and are looking for a cheap and reliable subwoofer solution I will throw a couple of my solutions in:

Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - FLI Trap 12" Active
Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - EDGE ED Bass 12 ACTIVE

Both of those are built well and include decent subs, great boxes, a build in amplifier and a wiring kit to power it. It will cost a bit more but I know those of those packages have been designed to work effectively and reliably.

I've also got some cheap speakers which I think are great value for money: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - EDGE ED206

That said, I think you are better off saving your money on the rears and only upgrading the fronts. My customers rave about these: Shopping Secure - Car Audio Specialists - FLI INTEGRATOR COMP 6 (I agree with vg-ute-mad)

All of these prices are wayy too high for me sorry. I'm not looking for an awesopme system, im not overly picky on sound, i just want some cheap speakers that get good write ups (fusions) and that are an improvement on a standard system. I was hoping to pay no more than $450 in total for everything.

Yeah they have BA at the front, but they are usually $170 and are $100, so i assumed they were good. guess not...

KENWOOD 2CH AMP, 350W MAX, 60W X 2 RMS AMP for $140 instead of the Boss Audio then?

Does the AMPs Watt level, need to be equal too or higher than the max Watt output of all the other things you have? Like sub and speakers and head unit?

My mate says it does... that true?

You need to look at the speakers RMS power handling, then look at amps with around the same RMS output per channel.
In saying that, a pair of 60wrms speakers will run fine off a head-unit. You just wont get the full potential from the speakers, as they arent getting the optimum power they require.
