Pathetic. They're doing it cover up the state of the shitty medical system, if they make a mistake they should be liable camera or not! But camera is the only way you can prove, otherwise they always get out of it, some friends of mine had the worst run with our states hospitals (this is in geelong).

She was pregnant, she ended up having a rare condition can't remember the name but the egg sticks to the inside this puts the mother at risk of not being able to have anymore children among other things. So they saw the specialist, they said we can try operating and move the egg away from the side. They said, ok they had the operation and they took the egg out - killed her baby. This was not properly explained (if at all) to her. Needless to say they were devastated - there is a lot more to this story, and its a lot worse than I can ever describe here but guess what repercussions there were for the murders that organised that? sweet #### all.

They could not prove anything (believe me they tried), They hospital did not even have a record that she had been in for the operation...

Very very vauge outline of what happened, probably have missed a few details but you get the gist. Expecting parents should not take no for an answer and film it anyway - better yet get private health cover and go to a private hospital. It's worth the money.

killing an egg off is murder now? Basics, mother can still have children...it is a win/win.

Right...

I fail to see the issue here...people should be grateful they are allowed in a sterile area to begin with and be able to wortk with the doctors.

The issue here that I am pointing out is the ever encroaching wave of laws, restrictions and things we in society 'cannot do'.

If people want to film such an important moment in their lives, they should be able to, for the reasons given in the article, (I wouldn't accept any reason) I think it's disgusting...just a knee jerk reaction.

You can be a real prick sometimes lol.
Yes it is, especially without her consent - not to mention they ####ed it up and didn't close her up properly and she got an infection because of it and had to go to a private doctor to get it fixed up. Which cost her having kids, she can't have kids now. Their only (slim) hope is IVF.

It was a little more than an egg I can't remember exactly how far along she was but it was developed further than that.
I don't think you'd be too happy if they did that to your wife and did not tell you. You would have judged differently or at least prepared yourself for the fact that you were taking your babies life.

Pretty much.

EDIT: What sucks the most is the potential this country has - to be the best in the world. Not at the rate we're going.

Birthing suits aren't sterile. Not even close.
They don't need to be really. I was walking around in bare feet.

Also, unless its a c-sec there isn't even any doctors and the midwives do bugger all. I mean, nothing. Sit there and watch. So its not a big emergency scene. There is no reason why a small camera will hurt anything. Unless of course they're doing something wrong.

Sounds like she had an Ectopic pregnancy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia so she was probably very luck they did what they did or she may be dead.

If you don't like it, have the baby at home. I surely would take issue at being filmed in my workplace.

They have taken away the option to birth at home as well . . at least with properly trained personnel

Clearly a comment made by someone made with no idea.

Then, there's allot of those in this thread.
A normal delivery isn't that eventful. People are only going to want to film the 30seconds where it actually comes out. Not the 38hrs before that.
