i have some news for you... go research the old phase 2-4 falcons. the phase 4 was BANNED from australia (altho 4 were sold) because they reached over 400 kmph STOCK.. THEY were and still are the fasted production car EVER!!!
As has been mentioned already, the phase IV wasn't banned. It was dropped. And 4 weren't sold. They were being built for a racing team, but were canned when Ford dropped the Phase IV project and couldn't meet the homologation rules in place at the time.

They most definitely could not do 400km/h. They couldn't even do 240km/h. The "Supercar scare" was started by a photo published in Wheels of an XY Phase III speedo sitting on 140mph ~ 225km/h.

As for their claim to be fastest production car ever... well this was true until 1989 when the record was beaten by the VN SS Group A... Look around mate. Current HSVs (and even FPVs for that matter) are running 1.5 to 2 seconds faster down the quarter mile STOCK. Even the best GTHOs couldn't run better than a 14.5 (stock, that is...).

Learn to read! No one was knocking the fords.

This thread had nothing to do with V8 Supercars either.

If you are such a narrow minded Ford supporter get rid of your VK and go join a Ford site. Your ignorance is painful...

Pajero LWB Wagon, Power/economy what's that ???
Just on media definitions (Car Mags)
Australian Muscle Cars:
Charger E37, E38, E49, (auto only) E55 and Hemi Pacers.
Falcon GT XR, XT, XW, XY, XA & possibly XB (not the Cobra).
Monaro HK, HT, HG & HQ.
Torana GTR, XU1 & SLR 5000 L34 (not the A9X as it had the standard 308).
These are the cars that are generally included in this category.
Some are seriously lacking in performance straight from the factory (Monaros, XR, XT, GTR) compared to others in the group but were raw and full of "Character" which meant lots of noise with no pretensions of being a family car at all, though they could be used as such.
Any performance car after these is usually classed as just that, (High)Performance Cars.
Some use the term "Modern Muscle Cars" but as we all know they are too refined to fit into the same class as the oldies therefore are in a class of their own.

I cant understand why people keep comparing 2 litre twin hairdryers to the muscle cars of old or even to a modern V8.
Whack 14psi down the throat of a 6litre & I guarantee youll have more than 450HP.

Try 500kw min for a Gen-T 1000 ;)

a true muscle car is something you can work the tits off, without adding bolt-ons, and made of steel IMO. You can't do the work to a current V8 that you could do to the old ones (cos of all the computerised crap). Sure the new V8s are quick, but they don't have the ball tearing brute force of an old big block chev or ford, or short or tall block chrysler. When you see a car snap engine mounts, tear firewalls, twist chassis', and crack windscreens, or change lanes through gear change cos of the throw of the motor, or require solid mounts and chains to hold the engine down, then you know you have seen or experienced TRUE MUSCLE.
