I'm in desperate need of help! I've got no indicators or hazard lights and now having problems with the cluster too.

It started as no indicators, but then quickly blew out into a **** storm! I tried replacing the stalk and the hazard switch with no luck. Then tried replacing the relay which only stuffed my tacho. Then after replacing the cluster I've lost all power to the cluster. This morning I realized if I have the parkers or head lights on I get no dash lights or speedo or tacho. If I turn them off I get the speedo and tacho working.

I'm absolutely lost and have tried everything! Car is a genuine lemon VS ute with a patch loom for a level 3 dash. Up until recently everything has worked perfectly electricly besides the heater fan. Fuses are all fine and all parts changed in/out to test have been known working parts.

If you can help please do!

Just a random guess.. problem with the hazard light switch? I think it can override normal indicators, but I've never fiddled with the wiring in mine to know.

Has your BCM been blasted with too much current and burnt out a switching modulator?

    Hi
most of the time when you end up with electrical gremlins in the dash area, its because a lead has been plugged in upside down or into the wrong switch/connector...check the patch lead is actually a patch lead and not a graft job, if its a graft job you will need to check no wires have shorted or come adrift....

Did u swap the original relay back to see if the tacho worked again? The tacho issue began when u swapped the relay.

The replacement cluster is a known working one from a V6?

I'm a bit over whelmed sorry fellas.

Firstly, what's a switching modulator Darren?

Adventura, how do I check the earths? Or do I have to look physically?

Wazza, I made the loom myself. Just soldered everything together and 6-8 months later it was fine up until now. Now this said with the "4th" plug out it seems to be better. As in the tacho works. Also I replaced the headlight switch for a Stato one and it doesn't kill the tacho when the lights are on. Again, every problem has only come about in the last day or so after trying to fix the indicators. And nothing has been touched exept a new cluster since the patch loom went in, but that was a good 2 months before the indicators stopped working.

Ephect, I've tried 3 different relays now including the original one. All from VS's.

Mikey, I've tried 2 hazard switches too.

Now, thinking back to when the indicators first stuffed up. The next day I tried pressing the hazard switch which worked and made the indicators work too, but they were working on and off for about two days after that. Could be worth pulling the dash back out again! I have got power to the hazard switch though AND when I use my button to lock/unlock the car all the indicators have power and work too.

Thanks for everyones help and sorry for the long post. Trying to give as much info as I can.

disco the battery and remove the hazard light switch..give it a good spraying with wd40 and switch it on and off a few 100 times :)...they dont get used much and they get full of dust and crap from the air vents...I replaced mine recently with a nos one as the old one was flaky (I use mine a bit when testing trailer lights)

I'm just suggesting you check your BCM relays with a multimeter as they can become stuffed from a short or other mishap. These can be repaired much cheaper than getting a new BCM and keys from Holden.

I'll try it Wozza, thanks. How do I test the relays Darren? Got the multimeter, but only know how to check for 12v and continuity.

Got the POS booked in at the auto elec for Thursday so hopefully I can fix it before then...
