auto gear stick

does anyone know how to remove the gear stick knob on an auto. have busted the plastic piece with the white part for the gear selector. and need to fit a new one

Don't think you need to pull off the gear knob - you can pull the gearshift lever surround by removing the ashtray and then with your fingers thru the ashtray hole lift the panel until it clicks out...then you can remove and replace the gear position indicators etc. Do it gently and I think you need to push the panel forwards.....others on this forum will be able to better describe.
