auto gearbox interchangeability vs-vy

Ok so I've got an ls1 powered Commodore and the gearbox let go.. nothing new it happens to us all but after looking around for a replacement I was shocked at prices between v6 and v8.
Now to me it seemed a bit odd as their both the same box essentially, (the 4l60e) that they were apparently un interchangeable, every man and his dog said you can't put a v6 box in a v8 and the ones that said it could be done either stopped talking when asked for details or just said change the bellhousing, which after just a quick look at the input shaft is false, so after even calling a dozen or so workshops and again being told it can't be done I set about learning everything I could about the boxes.
Now long story short, it CAN DEFINITELY BE DONE and it's actually not tooo difficult if your handy with the spanners and once I figure out how to use this site a bit better I'll post up a step by step and maybe even some tips to modify your 4l60e while it's apart, both free mods and the expensive mods and damage diagnosis

Probably true for the later transmissions but VS (and below) the transmission housing is 1 piece so you can't swap the bell housing.
You could swap the internals over...... but that's fairly involved.
