    Manual for sure!

I have had an SV6 series 1 Manual for the last 2.5 years, and upgraded to a Series II last weekend.

The engine really suits a manual transmission IMHO, and in the Series II, the slightly shorter gearing makes it even better.

I was not intending to upgrade as I was really happy with what I had, but drove the Series II and was most impressed. Was pleasantly surprised to have the trade-in cover what the car owed me, and to get a very good deal on the new car as well.

in my opinion, the only 'autos' worth having are a VERY good DSG - and even then, that's only if the manual is crap or non-existent (read R35, Fez 458, etc).

    Auto....

What's the point of a manual in a big car when you can pretty much lose your license in 2nd gear?

I've driven plenty of manual commodores and HSV's (not mine). I find it kinda pointless. All the cars I've owned though have been small where manual makes more sense.

Manual is so much fun. Its so nice in a car with a decent amount of torque as opossd to a little 4banger that you always rev the crap out of it. Arguably a little more economical than an auto too.

You can loose your licence in 2nd gear of an auto too. Where's the difference?

I can only drive a Auto since my accident back in 2009 leaving my left arm useless and I hate it with a passion.

Its not driving unless you are driving in a manual car!

    Manual for the WIN!!!!

    +1 Manual.

I test drove both of them and they felt like completely different cars, the auto felt very boring and un-engaging.

Give me a manual anytime. I hate the fact that most times you can only get manual as an option in the bland base model only. But then I guess there is very little market for manual cars with higher spec features.

Although it seems very hard to find a manual omega, and easy to find a manual sv6 or ss

Auto for sure every time - in a straight line it is probably the same or quicker than the manual. This new 6 speed auto is awesome - virtually the same box as BMW use in their 1 and 3 series..

I couldn't think of driving my morning commute in a manual - would be a dog. You can still drive the auto in manual mode if you really want

Auto, every now and then a manual would be more fun but auto is just more practical for everyday driving, that's just my opinion.
