Hey this isnt your every day question here. Its not how do i change from auto to manual in my car, but. If i have an automatic motor, What would i need to change to allow it to bolt upto a manual gearbox?

I know that the crank and flywheels are different. But. What else is there?

Im just talking engines here not looms, not fancy pant stuff, juct block heads and manifolds kind of thing.

Cheers

from what i know its just the crankshaft flywheel and clutch, but i could be very wrong. as far as i can tell those would be the only parts that should differ from an auto and manual engine.

i was talking to a transmission specialist the other day and he said vn's are a nightmare to convert. you have to change everything. the crankshaft even has to be changed. and yes the bellhousing is different.

u need a **** load of things, not as simple as the mechanical parts, quite a few ppl, including myself here have looked at doing it and almost everyone here has agreed its almost cheeper to go out and buy a manual insted of converting

you can buy a manual flywheel that suits an auto series 1 crank from CRS...

bellhousings for auto/manual are the same pattern.. you'll just need flywheel, clutch, shifter, clutch cable, clutch pedal, tailshaft, crossmember (for box)......

should be it?

I already have a manual car .... running, complete and roadworty .... i want an engine that i can rebuild and put some after market parts into it for a bit of performance. Since its taken me about 1 year to find a good running VN manual for the right price i really dont want to wait a year for a manual engine to pop up.

So i would probably be using the crank and clutch, flywheel from my current engine in the new one then fit it. So the pattern is the same so if i change the cranks over its a straight bolt in

Cheers all you made me one happy man :D

i found a manual 5 speed vp for 800 in the trading post.. im sure you can get it down to atleast 500.. it doesnt matter if its not good cause your rebuilding and putting in aftermarket parts ... so it really doesnt matter...

then sell the trans and parts of the car to reclaim your money or make it a skid pig

Converting to manual from auto isnt really that hard, just need to have some knowledge....
