I think when i serviced my trans the other day, that my filter dropped as i was doing up the oil pan bolts. Have been running it for a week atm no troubles, my old filter had no filings etc in it, so should it be fine if its dropped or will this be troublesome to leave?

I wouldnt be just leaving it, you will have unfiltered fluid circulating through the transmission. When fitting a new trans filter, I firstly fit the new filter seal to the new filter, and then push the filter up into its locating hole until its fully seated. Lastly, I give the filter a slight tug, just to make sure its seated in there nice and firm and is not gonna fall out.

Yeah, the gasket should be ok. I wouldnt be reusing the drained trans fluid though, Id replace it with new stuff again..

Also ive heard that to drain the fluid you can just undo the bottom trans cooler hose. Start your engine and wait for it to start to splutter.
