hahahahahahaha
another brilliant idea by the engineers at Holden, FFS we need to check auto trans fluid levels, WTF? why do away with the dipstick, honestly, what forward thinking is that. Just leaves us open to more failures when we cant tell if trans fluid is required, how much does a dipstick cost anyways, FFS.
Absolutely brilliant:banstick:
This. Again.
It's not cost cutting, those who have fitted a dipstick have to go through same procedure except hoist, which you need to do to top, do filter kit anyway.
Problem is smaller pan on VE than typical fitment. Levels are checked by technicians at service intervals, and in my experience is never a worry about losing Dexron VI but burnt / black quality of fluid due to overheating / overcycling.
Dipstick users report the same benefit identifying quality over level as it is only ever marginal. Problems with dipstick itself are reports of water contamination, reliability of proper reading (following procedure above) and myriad fitment issues.
Seems the easiest proper answer is to fit Camaro or CTS-V pan with long pickup and wide mouth.
Welding baffles help keep required fluid to pickup on launch, as does +500ml overfill (yes it IS possible)!
Saw an aux tranny cooler on Amazon to fit VE like Highway Patrol spec for $29, would be better solution than dipstick (+volume -temp).
