hey there! i recently serviced my auto transmission, new filter, new gasket. first the gasket was leaking because of beeing too les tightned, now because of beeing f##kt of overthighning the bolts... i just got a new one. can i use any liquid gasket maker to seal it properly? or use that stuff instead the cork gasket? 2nd thing is my mechanic told me, the rear engine is leaning oil, i just discovered i need to remove either the engine or the tranny, any alternatives? already put some leakstop in did't work properly ;-( and last but not least, is there any garage around cairns, where i gonna get the roadworthy with a leaking engine? doesnt leak much only a drip now and then. maybe you can send me something by email: freaky930 at gmx.de cheers for that!
do not use any sealer on the trans pan, just the gasket and maybe a dot or two of liquid gasket on an outter corner or two to hold the gasket in place as you adjust everything. the bolts do not need to be too tight, there is also a pattern to follow when tightning them up, basically it is a criss cross. quickest way to treat that rear main seal would be some moreys heavy duty oil stabiliser, dump your oil, drain the moreys down the oil dipstick tube and then put some thicker oil in,
