Hey I've got a 1990 VN SS I recently put a new stereo in it and now the automatic ariel won't go up. I can't listen to SEN 1116 anymore in the car and it's doing my head in. When I push the button for it to go up it goes up but as soon as you let go it comes down again??

any suggestions?????

Yeah your aerial module is stuffed. Get a new one. Its a small black module inside your kick panel, about even with the glovebox. Around $40 for a new one, but be careful which one you get, as there were a few different ones in the VN's.

Either that or did you have the aerial replaced? Aerpro aerials do this also because they are not 100% compatible with some of the modules in commodores. They aremade to fit VN-VS or something, but theres several modules across that range of models, and the aerial doesnt get along with all of them.

Lastly, you can wire the aerial directly to the CD player and just throw the module away. This means that the aerial will go up when the radio is on and down when the radio is off. You won be able to use the aerial button anymore either.

The thing is that it worked fine with the stock head unit it only hasn't worked since I replaced it. So unless the module shat itself between the time I took the old head unit out and put the new one in then I can't see how it would be module.

Sorry about posting twice I put it in here first then realised there is a car audio section.

The module might hav shorted or something while the headunit was being changed. But it is the aerial module I bet ya.

The power antenna needs 12v from the head unit to maintain it up.If it isnt there when you power the aerial up with the switch it will go down because the module thinks because the 12v isnt there the radio is off and it goes down again. The head unit should have a power antenna wire that should go to the yellow /red wire to make everything work.

I have this EXACT same problem. I think markovr must be right because when installing my new head unit, there was only 1 wire to power the antenna for the new loom. on the stock cassette player there was a wire for aerial up and one for aerial down. Do I want to connect the new head units antenna wire to the old ones up wire?
