I've got my dads vy ss down to 9.8lt/100ks, that was on a looooong drive using cruise most of the way.
On the other end of the scale i've got it up to about 26lt/100k. But usully sits at about 16lt/100k
If its just a 1-3 hour drive on an open road probably get it down to 11 or so

Hope that made SOME sense lol

I had mine down to 8.1l/100k after changing the tune in the engine. This was on a very hot day running in some hills around here. The previous best was 9.2l so there was definately an improvement from the tune.

I just drove from Penrith to Brisbane and back over the weekend in my manual V6. I used the cruise control almost always.

Into a significant headwind on the way up, got 8.2L/100Km. Easily made it from Sydney to the Gold Coast on the one tank.

Kept the trip computer going for the nil wind trip coming back, and the average fuel consumption had dropped to 7.9L/100Km by the time we got home. That would mean an average of about 7.6L/100Km for the return leg. Filled up at Ballina and still had 1/4 tank back at Penrith.

Average speed both ways was a bit under 90KPH, doing the trip in less than 11 hours on the road.

I am content with those figures, considering the car only has 12,500 km now. May improve slightly as odometer increases.

My best run has been a 100km trip down a freeway when i got a burn of 7.9L/100km. Ive never been able to repeat it though, closest i came on the same stretch of road was 9L/100km.
Must be something to do with wind/tire pressure/weight in car etc

i think its funny that after a tune, a LS1 can get similar fuel usage figures as V6's. I know i am now
Twice the power and similar economy, got to be happy with that(LS1 owners anyway :D )

Yeah but that's not all the time surely? On a freeway you might be able to run similar figures but around town in stop start driving you're still over the 11.5L/100km mark? (thats where my car currently sits, only does short trips in city traffic)

That is true mate. The tune in mine currently runs around 17.2 around town. There is still a few areas left in the tune to improve on it though.

All depends on how you drive i guess.
City driving is different in different cities. Adelaide for instance is not as hectic as Sydney, i think people tend to foget as such.
But still, if i did purely ADELAIDE CITY driving, i still think i could very similar efficiency as a V6.

Adelaide city/surburban driving can vary greatly. From experience driving along a section of south road each day I get around 12-13l/100km. If I drive routes in the west I get better figures. It all depends on the amount of time you sit in traffic versus the amount of time spent actually moving as well. I only assume those in the northern and southern suburbs get better economy if they use the main express routes with less congestion and traffic lights.

    VYII SS best - 110km freeway between Melb - Albury = 8.9
Average on a trip (no trailer) = 9.something
    Average on a trip (1 boat) = 14 ish
    Average on a trip (2 boats) = 19 ish

Average around town (no trailer) = 14 ish
Average around town (trailer (2 ton) = 18 ish

Suprised I haven't blown up a clutch yet - expecting it any time. Anybody know what they are worth to replace???

Depends where I run it and how long:

Highway - best is about 9L/100km
    Town - 13-14L/100km

The highway one drops if you dont run it in the sweet spot (about 1900RPM for my VYII V6, which is about 100-105km/h on the road). I did a 120km trip at 115km/h on sunday, and the best I got was 10.5L/100km.

I get approx 11 / 100 km on the open highway.

15-17 around town depending on how I drive.

I'm getting the exhaust completely redone this week (Extractors, 2.5" right through, Hi Flow cats) apparently the guy doing it tells me it should improve fuel economy will see i guess.

    16,000km average

I haven't reset my computer in over 16,000 km and my average is now 10.2l/100km. I,ve been driving my car pretty hard over the last few months so I know it should be less. About 85,000 on the clock now. No problems to get the average down to 7.9-8.2 l/100km on a highway drive before that.
