Anyone know of an US site I can buy Avon's from? Tried Bike Bandit but they won't ship outside the US. I can probably get them locally interstate but a few places are saying they can not get the Avon's I need. Also locally Avon's used to be $300 each for a 120/80/18 and about $220 for a 90/90/18. Where as I could save 200 bucks if I import my own.

What model they going on? What tread pattern? And why specifically avons?
We just started stocking them at work, but we won't ship to aussie either.

Avons are one of 2 or 3 race tyres available for 18s Deuce. Avons are the best as well. Dunlop TTs would be my second choice. They are relatively well priced in Australia

Ive used Metz comp K but was getting too much wheel spin when they wore down on the edges.

AM18 rear and AM26 front $640 a pair in Australia. Definitely need to try to import my own if I want Avon's. Around $450 for a pair on Bike Bandit. Dunlop GP's are probably $400 for a pair and are a pretty decent tyre. Is there anything else you would recommend Deuce?

Best tyre I have ever had were Avon AM 22 and AM23 on my ZX10 when you lean it into corners you have more rubber on the road as well, the rubber compound is magic noting came close and I went top shelf with brands always as an insurance, I tried to get the Avon tyres but never could from that 1st set.
I was amazed at the tyre fitters and bike shops just how stupid they were trying to sell me total crap claiming you will get better mileage, even tried to sell me a stupid chain with a link clip, lucky I knew what I was talking about or I would be dead.
Tyres are your best insurance policy you can get by far.

Yeah I will probably have issues getting the AMs because like you say Zeke they are hard to get in Aust now for some reason, after trying a couple of dealers in Sydney. I've never run them because of the cost but most blokes in Period 4 and Period 5 run Avon's and they all swear by them. I've been off the track for almost 10 years and the old crew I knew were in SA so I have lost all my old contacts now that I have moved to Tas. It's like you say it's when you power up while you're still leaning is where you need the grip. With the shape of Avon's the circumference is larger on the edge than with some other tyres especially Metz Comp K, which means you get less wheel spin while on the lean and accelerating at the same time.
