My vn auto v6 still haven problems with back fireing
its only backfireing when i plant my foot an get the Rpm high,

things ive done to help fix it:
new Spark Plugs
new leads
new 2.5" zost
new high flow cat
new fuel filter
car fully serviced (breaks oil throttle cleaned.. ect)
reset computer
new o2 censor or oxy censor (the one goes on headers)

so im thinking maybe its my Headers? like stock headers going in 2 1/2 inch zost/cat its createing a bottle kneck or something? i dunno =( help me out

The main reason backfiring occurs is because of unburnt fuel that is spat out into the exhaughst and combusts because of the heat. Hmmmmm maybe she is running too rich? Youve replaced alot too, what type of fuel are you useing?
P.S. You should of spent the money from your high flow cat on headers ;)

hm coil pack sounds like something it might go out an buy. they cost much?

an ive got a high flow cat but just not a set of headers. i run my car on 98 octain premium, but some times i put 95 octain in it maybe thats bad a thing?

i assume by your ride you've got the S1 ones.. unfourntually they were dodgy and cant be changed individually

i upgraded to VS ones they're similar to the VN S2 ones
and can be changed individually.. you can find them at the wreckers for like $70 for the 3 coil ones

you can see them on my engine... they've got red leads that look more orange now

I had a '79 Toyota Celica paddock basher and one day it started backfiring. When i put my foot down hard it let out this massive bang and smoke poured out of the exhaust pipe.....thought i blew the motor. lol. i tried to fix it but i sold it and my mate fixed it. Ill find out what he replaced - something electrical and ill let you know.
